DOH-Putnam Girl’s CAN!

June 07, 2019

Palatka, Fla. - More than 200 young women were witness to powerful messages of encouragement during the annual Girls CAN event held at St. Johns River College.

"You matter," was the first message keynote speaker Judge Angela Cox delivered to students. She was referencing the 80 women of varying professions who volunteered to share the unique paths and personal challenges that led to their current professional roles. "This is how you know you matter...when people care about something, they invest their time in what matters...and we chose you." She said "You Matter."

Girls CAN is a collaborative partnership between local community and business leaders committed to empowering young woman to take charge of their future.

DOH-Putnam Mary Garcia, Administrator, shared her experiences on the road to public health as part of the "Team Invent" group. Carol Kazounis, Public Health Nutritionist and Jennifer Ramos Gagne', Tobacco/SWAT were also in attendance at the event.
