Florida Department of Health in Putnam County Cleans Up

An Article from the Palatka Daily News: By Asia Aikins

Keep Putnam Beautiful volunteers hosted two community cleanups Saturday, removing more than 890 pounds of litter in Putnam County.

One of the two cleanups took place at the Putnam County Health Department.

"They had nine volunteers and picked up more than 390 pounds of litter in two and a half hours," said Marcia Marinello, KPB executive director. "We also had a group from Interlachen that ... cleaned for four miles and picked up 500 pounds of litter."

Marinello said she hopes the efforts of local volunteers will encourage more businesses and organizations become involved with KPB.

"Several of our city and county departments are now adopting roadways to clean," she said. "We would like to see other groups and businesses adopt a roadway."

KPB is currently seeking more volunteers to participate in events during the Great American Cleanup, taking place March-May. For more information about the events or to adopt a roadway, call KPB at 325-9598.
