DOH-Putnam supports National Food Day with a yearly food drive.

Palatka, Fla. - DOH-Putnam supports National Food Day with a yearly food drive. This year, Mary Garcia, Administrator had an "aha" moment after hearing a story about one of our DSME clients. The individual shared that "all she had was her dogs and she always made sure they ate" which meant sometimes she did not. Team members were polled and ecstatically agreed to donate pet food for our Fifth Annual Food Drive. Team names were selected and boxes were decorated.

Over 702 pounds of canned/dry dog and cat food was collected by DOH-Putnam and the Rotary Club of Palatka. The winner of the contest for weight (138.6 lbs.) and decorative box is Team Snoopy. Pet food will be shared with our community partners: The Homeless Coalition, Putnam Animal Control, Palatka Animal Control, Feed the Need School Backpack Program and DOH-Putnam clients who need assistance.
