DOH-Putnam Makes Social Statement

June 07, 2019

Palatka, Fla. - The Putnam Board of County Commissioners issued a proclamation recognizing April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). This public statement was an opportunity to raise awareness and educate communities and individuals on how to prevent sexual violence and assault.

DOH-Putnam and Putnam County community partners took a stand for National Denim Day by wearing jeans as a symbol of protest against erroneous and destructive attitudes about sexual assault. The symbolic gesture originating in Italy, now is a worldwide campaign to support survivors and dispel harmful myths about sexual violence.
