DOH-Putnam - Are You Storm Ready?

Palatka, Fla. - Joe Cobb, DOH-Putnam Preparedness, Ryan Simpson, Interim Putnam County Emergency Director, Rebecca Williams, UF/IFAS Family Nutritionist and Joshua Florence of the Melrose Fire Department conducted a storm preparedness workshop at the Melrose Public Library. Presenters shared information about what attendees need to know to be well-prepared before, during and after storms.

Individuals with special needs learned about shelters and how to register for special assistance. The workshop included a demonstration on preparing a healthy meal from foods not requiring refrigeration, how to create an emergency plan, register for county alerts, and how to obtain a free "Vial-of-Life" kit.
