DOH-Putnam - Cookies are like kindness, they make life sweet
June 02, 2020
Palatka, Fla. - Thin Mints, Tagalongs, Do-Si-Dos and Samoa's Girl Scout cookies were stacked almost as high as we are tall. A donation of kindness to Putnam County healthcare and essential service workers, courtesy of the Girl Scouts of Gateway Council.
Gateway Council CEO, Mary Anne Jacobs stated, "Giving back to the community is a pillar of what it means to be a Girl Scout," 177 cases were donated to Putnam Community Medical Center, the Putnam County Emergency Management Center, First Responders and other county essential services. Through the Cookies for Health Heroes initiative, Girl Scouts proudly provided thousands of boxes of Girl Scout Cookies to bring a smile to health care workers across North Florida.
Local Putnam County citizen and former girl scout Andrea Conover coordinated the entire delivery for the county and said, "just felt like I had to help the community when the opportunity was presented". We are so appreciative of the Gateway Girl Scout Council for thinking of Putnam County during this time.
