On April 22, 2024, Carol M. Kazounis assumed the interim Administrator position at the Florida Department of Health in Putnam County (DOH-Putnam). Graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from the University of North Florida in May 2000, Mrs. Kazounis embarked on her public health career in 2010 with the WIC program at DOH-Putnam. Then promoted to WIC director where her initiatives led to a notable 15% increase in breastfeeding rates within Putnam County. Progressing in her professional journey, she transitioned to the role of Director of Chronic Disease and Community Health Promotions in 2016, focusing on advocating healthy lifestyle choices through education and improving access to resources. Mrs. Kazounis achieved accreditation for Diabetes Self-Management Education at DOH-Putnam in 2017 and obtained a Master of Science in Nutrition from the University of North Florida in December 2021. As a passionate advocate for lifestyle modifications, she pursued further education in lifestyle training, achieving the designation of master trainer. This qualification enabled her to instruct others in the field of lifestyle coaching. In her leadership role as Director of Community Health, she oversaw the financial aspects of multiple programs and grants, including but not limited to Diabetes Self-Management, Diabetes Prevention, Heart Health, Healthy Communities, Healthy Families,
